16 Days Until Christmas
The holidays are a special time of year, even in these difficult times, and gift giving, highlights the holiday season. Giving a gift from your heart touches everyone and also gives a warmth to the giver. It isn't often that I can discuss the holidays and its importance to the well being of the celebrants. Tomorrow night starts Hannukah and giving gifts is a major part of the holiday. Growing up, Hannukah was always a special time and I couldn't wait for the day I would get gifts. My family decided to give money on seven of the eight days with one day for the gifts. The anticipation was always high and I was never disappointed.
Christmas, as a holiday, came to me later in life and a special holiday it is. I find the trappings of the holiday to be wondrous and to celebrate with family and friends is pure joy. Watching children celebrate the holiday is amazing and how much joy the arrival of Santa is to them as their anticipation grows. Then to see them go crazy on Christmas morning as there are gifts piled under the tree is just a total smile fest.
Children aren't the only ones that love the holidays. Giving a gift to a loved one is a great way to show how much you care about them. Can you give gifts all year long to those you love, of course, but at the Holiday's it is completely different. There are so many meanings about the holiday and the giving of gifts that it is not lost on me. From the gift of light for eight days to the gifts of the magi to the baby Jesus the holidays are loaded with symbolism and joy.
I want to wish the happiest, healthiest, and safest possible holidays for all faiths and may we find 2021 as the restart of our lives where we get back to normal and enjoy what gifts we have to be alive. HAPPY HOLIDAYS and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
