Memorial Day at KPS
Memorial Day in the USA is coming up on May 31st and it causes many Americans to reflect on those people who gave their lives in service to their country. From the first conflict of the American Revolution to the Persian Gulf conflicts, American men and women have answered the call and were willing to lay down their lives for the freedoms that America provides them.
To this day we must be thankful to those who served and fell for without them we wouldn't be the free country we are today. Do we have problems as a nation, of course we do, and we also have the ability to work through them and unite behind the stars and stripes.
I was fortunate that my relatives who served in some of the American Wars and conflicts didn't end up laying down their lives but they served none the less. My father fought in the Aluetian Islands in WW2, my Uncle was a navigator on a B-24 flying submarine patrol in the South Atlantic in WW2, and my brother was at Phan Rang Airbase in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. All came home safe and I am grateful for that but so many did not.
So on this holiday let us bow our heads in silence and say a prayer for those who did make the ultimate sacrifice and be thankful, as Americans that they answered the call of their nation, and were willing to lay down their lives for the cause of Freedom.
